I Am DJ Block G

The man known as DJ Block G (abbreviated L7g) was born and bred in the City of Angels by way of San Pedro (P-Dro), which is also home to the Los Angeles Harbor Port. As if fate were in control, Rap had been born around the same time and it was growing into a mainstream form of music. It was far beyond music, Rap was a lifestyle turned into a culture. The culture of Hip Hop would breed the youth into breakers, artists, rappers, and DJ’s.

DJ Block G was no exception and hip hop coursed through his veins with bass pumping beats taking over his heart. An impassioned, inseparable love for music was created. Block G was put under a spell when he was mesmerized by the earliest and best pioneers. One of his childhood favorites being the great Jam Master J who helped show us how to “walk this way” in “my addidas.”

By the time Block was in his teens he had formed connections with childhood friends that lead him down the path of party crews and party promotions. He helped form a party crew known as Devious Empire that would produce and promote parties around P-Dro. During this time Block had an itch that needed to be scratched. DJ Block G had been yearning for his own pair of turntables to spin on, and at age 16 he pulled his funds together with the help of a close friend known as “The Sheriff”. With his brand new turntables  he took  his first steps toward the dream. Armed with his own turntables and a fiery eagerness, DJ Block G taught himself how to rock the tables and move the crowd.

Block G takes an enormous pride on perfectly blended mixes, scratching, and smooth transitions that put together all forms of music. Not only does hip hop run in his catalog, but all types of genres pulse throw his finger tips when he spins. In addition he has an ear and love for House, Disco, Rock, Salsa, Oldies, and anything you can dance to.

For the last half decade DJ Block G has been serving the United States in various areas of the military and is currently over seas in Kuwait. Never taking a rest, his tables are there right next to him. He has fine tuned his skills on Serato Scratch Live, Video SL, and Rane’s TTM 75SL mixer. With over ten years of experience under his fingertips, he plans to get right back to business upon his return to the states. Music moves the party and Block G is very well prepared for any party that needs a piece of his greatness.
